Set on one of the Newlands' generous oversized lots along Juniper Street, this garden is organized around a single strong axis that runs from the home's great room to a carved stone fountain at the far end of the property. A long, dark reflecting pool anchors the center, framed by honed limestone terraces and dry-laid stone walls that step gently with the grade. Drifts of lavender, silvery perennials, and columnar evergreens soften the architecture and bring a Provençal ease to the Front Range. A vine-draped pergola with woven lanterns creates an intimate dining room off to the side, while chaise lounges line the pool deck for long summer afternoons. After dark, a layered lighting plan traces the steps, washes the stone, and turns the water into a mirror for the house.
