Designed for a family who collaborated with Sopher Sparn Architects and Taylor Construction, Two Fold was envisioned as a space for multiple generations to gather. The family had previously resided in the adjacent house, which they reserved for extended family gatherings. The landscape became the unifying thread between the two households. A linear pool serves as the centerpiece of the main backyard space, its raised stone edge provides casual seating. A meadow of ornamental grasses and native perennials cascades down along a river rock swale, creating a haven for pollinators. Off the covered terrace, a fire table and outdoor dining area ensure that everyone remains close to the water. Nestled between the structures, a Zen-inspired spa garden offers a tranquil retreat. A stone-clad hot tub, fed by a gentle water cascade, sits amidst smooth boulders, stone lanterns, and layered shade plantings. This serene setting is complemented by a warm cedar screen that glows at dusk, creating an inviting ambiance for unwinding, soaking in, and ending the day together.
