Boulder

Life Outside

Boulder sits where the plains stop and the mountains start. The landscapes that belong here acknowledge that edge rather than flattening it.

We terrace. We plant for the climate this city actually has. We keep the view, and we build everything in front of it with restraint.

Twelve built landscapes in Boulder over fifteen years.

Landscape design and construction at the edge of the Flatirons.

Water is the discipline here. A palette chosen for the Front Range holds its composure through August and still reads as deliberate in February.

Shaped to the Slope

Most Boulder projects begin at master planning and stay with us through construction. Pools and water features. Stone terracing that turns a slope into ground you can actually use. Outdoor kitchens and fire. Custom steel fabricated for the site rather than ordered from a catalog. And lighting designed into the plan from the start, not added at the end because the evenings got dark.

We design and we build. The detail drawn in December is installed in May by people who were in the room when it was decided.

The Studio

Evoke is a women-owned studio with more than fifteen years of work in Colorado, led by Principal Ashley Ingraham, a 5 Under 40 honoree in landscape architecture.

We design and we build. That means one studio carries a project from the first sketch through the last stone, and the drawings are made by people who know how the thing gets installed.

Our work is defined by clean lines, natural materiality, thoughtful detailing, and an instinct for balance. Softness against structure, light against shadow, intimacy against expanse.

In Boulder we collaborate regularly with Renee del Gaudio Architecture, Flower Architecture, DAJ Design, Coburn Partners, and Buildwell Builders.
