Set on a ridge above Betasso Preserve, this home by Renee del Gaudio steps down the hillside as three dark metal cabins, each one turned toward the ponderosa forest and granite outcroppings beyond. Our landscape follows the same instinct: recede, and let the foothills do the talking. Native grasses sweep up to the glass entry so the architecture appears to rise straight from the meadow. Stone and concrete pick up the rhythm of the house as it descends, carrying exterior surfaces out onto the terrain, while restrained, drought-tolerant plantings blur the line between what was built and what was already here. The result is a landscape that feels less designed than discovered, at home in one of Boulder's wildest settings.
