Dan Runzel, PLA, Senior Landscape Architect

Growing up on the edge of Chicagoland, where the built environment gives way to open plains, Dan developed an early appreciation for the relationship between landscape and architecture. This intersection continues to inform his practice, shaping an approach rooted in understanding the unique story, character, and context of each project.

Over the past decade, Dan's work has taken him across the world with built work from the Hamptons to Kauai, contributing to a diverse portfolio of projects across North America. Guided by a deep respect for both architectural craft and the natural world, he creates environments designed to feel timeless, authentic, and connected to their surroundings. His experience spans high-end residential estates, luxury ranches, boutique retail streetscapes, resort planning, and large-scale master planning efforts, amongst others.

When his pencil is down, Dan can often be found training for his long-term dream of running the UTMB, watching what he still considers America's true pastime (baseball), or exploring new corners of the world with his wife.
